Gerries versus Lympstone at Winslade park on 11 July 2024 (but others seems to be having much more fun!!!)
20/20
Gerries lost by 22 runs
So on to Lympstone and arguably the worst wicket we have ever played on. To say it was slow and low was an understatement and the longer the game went on the lower and slower it got. The home team clearly know how to get the best out of it… Oh how we missed Musannif, Dyer and John Wright.
I’ll try and spin out the positives…
Lympstone batted first and scored 151 with 3 retirements from their first 3 batsmen, so to only concede another 51 runs in 12 overs was a positive. Gordon was the pick of the bowlers and it was a shame that his first 4 balls went for 15.
We had a great start to the innings with the in form Lightowlers blasting 30 before retiring but apart from Guesty who batted 20 overs for his 32 and JP with some ferocious hitting on 33 not out. JP made every ball into a full toss. The rest of the team contributed 16 as their slow leg break bowler ran through us. At Coaver or anywhere else he goes for plenty.
We reached 129 our highest total there for a while, so it was back to the pub in Clyst St Mary.
Onwards and Upwards!!
Bowling Figures:
Sewell 0-15
Krish 0-22
Lightowlers 1-35
Hughes 2-21
Smith 2-31
Jones 1-18
Boughton 1-5
P.S you may note the best thing about the day was the photo at the top from the Gerries on tour!!
