Honiton 146/7, Gerries 124/all out. Honiton won by 22 runs

We welcomed our overseas player Erik from Australia and Paul Lightowlers for his first game of the season on a warm night in Honiton.

A cracking ground with a bar selling Thatchers Gold for £4 a pint made your Chairman very happy.

Jonah lost the toss and Honiton chose to bat first. Deadly and the Landlord opened up and Honiton after 4 overs had 22 on the board before the Landlord had the dangerous Kenell caught well by Erik. At 68 off 9 overs JP was brought on to bowl and in his 2 overs took 3 wickets stemming the Honiton run flow and accounting for their middle order.

Erik took his first wicket, first catch and his first Champagne Moment entry with a superb run out. AB bowled a tidy spell for his 1 wicket a tidy stumping from Guesty.

Honiton had set us 146 to win.

A really good start to the chase with Lights and Jonah putting on 66 with31 and 30 respectively in the first 10 overs, game on or so you would think. Only AB was to hit double figures with a positive 20. Our 7 other batters contributed 25 as our middle order collapsed.

We had wrenched defeat from the jaws of victory, the main difference between the sides was the agility in the field and much younger legs so no disgrace and the Thatchers Gold was cheap and plentiful.
